Video: HOME LAND SECURITY

Video: HOME LAND SECURITY: Recently finished this three screen animated installation video piece. It’s not meant to be viewed as a tiny QuickTime movie, but… at least it will give you an idea of how it works. If for whatever reason you would like a copy of this on DVD to view in its proper mode, contact me!

An Inconvenient Truth film review

And, worth checking out:

Unplugged Living

EDIT: Go Google:

THINGS are happening

Things are happening. Many things. I am working on a group documentary focused on the lives of two undocumented immigrant workers, and the experience has been pretty stellar. We pitched our idea before the issue really blew up in the media, and the prospect of piecing together a story from the past two or so months of shooting is pretty daunting. Very daunting. I’m anxious to see what comes of it.

I have a new small job lined up that has not been made 100% official, so I won’t mention it just yet… but it should be fun and it will be a nice source of some (very small) change, at least. Looking forward to it.

Ideas have been rolling through my head for the upcoming post-grad summer, and I’m interested to see what I actually make of my time. I feel inspired to do many things (that’s a vague comment, yes), and I hope my energy remains intact… Film/video projects, some traveling?, etc…

I’m swimming in too many thoughts.

“Filmmakers flock to the Net”

CNET: “Filmmakers flock to the Net”: “A mass migration of storytelling talent could someday put the Internet in a position to compete with TV and theaters for the public’s entertainment dollars.”

Cheeeap hosting

Netfirms.com: $10 for a domain and a year’s worth of hosting, with 20GB of storage? A crime to pass up. I swooped up brianliloia.com, primarily for shits and giggles… not sure what will become of it. And I also picked up thecouragery.com for some friends, primarily to keep a long joke afloat for a while longer. Good times.

Anyway, good deal.

And, cool.

Self-Reliant Filmmaking: interview with Jake Mahaffy

Self-Reliant Filmmaking: Interview with Jake Mahaffy: Here’s an excellent interview with an up-and-coming independent filmmaker, Jake Mahaffy. Great read, really. Definitely interested in seeing War after reading this… (He’s right, sell the DVD through your site!)

Spout: social networking + film

Spout: The latest in social networking-themed websites, this time centered around film. DVguru has a nice interview with one of the founders. Anyway, the site has a great design, but it would be nice if a greater emphasis were placed more on smaller, more obscure movies… But, we’ll see where it is headed…

Film: An Inconvenient Truth

An Inconvenient Truth: trailer A very smartly titled documentary about the increasing global warming crisis… coming this spring. Will this film help push the issue over the tipping point into full-fledged American conciousness?

McDonald’s & Fast Food Nation, the movie

Cinematical: “McDonald’s Prepares for Fast Food Nation”: I love stuff like this.

IFC Media Lab

IFC Media Lab: Media Lab was developed in direct response to the ever-increasing amount of video content being produced by “amateur” filmmakers. IFC’s Media Lab is a web/TV integrated program that provides filmmakers a destination for posting their independent films online, offers viewers the chance to watch and vote on those films, and places the top, viewer-ranked films on IFC’s air in a national broadcast and beyond.

It seems like the voting system is skewed in some very weird way (there is like, nothing above a 6 on here, and the averaging is weighted somehow)… but, vote for me, if you want?
