Yesterday, I finally finished Volume 2 of Endgame. This book certainly helped to strengthen all of my convictions, if anything. Not only that, but it has helped me to question what I am doing, especially regarding the actions I want to take to make change that I see as important. But instead of getting into that, I’d like to share a list of other books that I have found particularly enlightening, inspirational, motivating, informational, and even life-altering (and yes, depressing, at times, too). I hold many of these books quite dear to me, and they have helped to shape my perspective on the world, civilization, politics, religion, sustainability, and all of that other big stuff:
- Ishmael (Daniel Quinn)
- My Ishmael (Daniel Quinn)
- The Story of B (Daniel Quinn)
- Beyond Civilization (Daniel Quinn)
- Against Civilization (edited by John Zerzan)
- A Theory of Power (Jeff Vail)
- The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight (Thom Hartmann)
- Against Empire (Michael Parenti)
- The Assassination of Julius Ceaser (Michael Parenti)
- Fast Food Nation (Eric Schlosser)
- Guns, Germs, and Steel (Jared Diamond)
- The Island (Aldous Huxley)
- Brave New World Revisited (Aldous Huxley)
- Endgame (Derrick Jensen)
…Etc.
Brian, I went to see Michael Perenti speak last year for a peace action event. He does give you a different perspective on things. Last Sunday we went to Sheperd Valley Creamery. A pretty neat place for NJ. Wonderful cheese made from raw milk. We also bought some Ewe Poo for the garden. Hope all is well. We miss you. I feel your content and happiness. Thanks for the newsletter. Rich
